US closes borders amid escalating Ebola outbreak | 7NEWS
The United States has implemented a 30-day travel restriction barring entry to non-U.S. passport holders who have been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, or Uganda within the past three weeks. The Ebola outbreak has resulted in 500 suspected cases and 130 suspected deaths, prompting the World Health Organisation to declare a public health emergency. An American doctor who contracted the virus while working in the Democratic Republic of Congo is being transported to Germany for treatment, while WHO deploys experts and 12 tonnes of supplies including protective equipment to the affected regions.
