Decline in number of South Africa’s birds of prey

A recently published study from the University of Cape Town has confirmed fears of conservationists around the decline of South Africa’s birds of prey.

The study revealed widespread long-term decline.

The research, based on 16 years of road survey data collected across central South Africa, found that several raptor species have declined sharply, including the endangered Secretary Bird.
