‘8 Ships On Fire’: Iran’s Explosive Hormuz Blitz As US Fighter Jets Spotted ‘Nearby’ | Watch

The Strait of Hormuz is turning into a dangerous maritime flashpoint as Iran’s naval mine threat puts commercial shipping at risk. According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, as many as eight vessels have struck Iranian sea mines in the past 48 hours, with explosions and fires reported aboard several ships. The incidents have raised fresh questions over US President Donald Trump’s claims that the strategic waterway’s main shipping routes have been cleared of mines and are safe for transit. Iran considers vessels using the US-backed southern shipping corridor near Oman’s coast unauthorised and has warned shipowners against ignoring instructions issued by its armed forces. Naval mines, which can remain submerged and detonate when triggered by a passing vessel, pose a serious threat in the narrow shipping corridor.
