Washington Monument Shooting Leaves One Hospitalized
An individual was shot by law enforcement near the Washington Monument, the U.S. Secret Service said, with the person’s condition and the circumstances of the shooting initially unclear. The incident occurred near 15th Street and Independence Avenue, prompting authorities to urge the public to avoid the area as emergency crews responded close to the White House, where President Donald Trump was holding a small business event. The White House was briefly placed under lockdown while the situation was investigated, though the event continued. Officials said an adult male was taken to hospital and a teenage male was treated for minor injuries.
