Higher Education | NSFAS placed under administration, EFFYC reacts

Higher Education and Training Minister Buti Manamela has put the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) under administration.

This follows challenges with the scheme’s leadership, following recent resignation of some board members, including the interim board chairperson, Dr Mugwena Maluleke.

Manamela also announced the appointment of Professor Hlengani Mathebula as the administrator.

During a media briefing in Pretoria, Manamela highlighted issues of poor governance and maladministration as some of the reasons for his decision.
