Spain crowned new FIFA World Cup champions
Spain have beaten previous world champions Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final in New York.
Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in extra time, and extended Spain’s unbeaten streak to a record 38 matches.
They will add the World Cup trophy to their cabinet alongside the Women’s World Cup trophy, becoming the first nation to hold the men’s and women’s FIFA World Cup titles at the same time.
This is a second men’s title for Spain, after their victory in the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
