Mayor Wu and The Boston Foundation announce $1.8 million toward food access amid SNAP uncertainty

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said Friday that the city and The Boston Foundation nonprofit have raised or committed nearly $1.8 million to help Greater Boston residents with food assistance amid deep uncertainty about the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Shortly after the announcement, a federal judge ruled that President Trump’s administration must continue to fund SNAP using contingency funds during the ongoing government shutdown.
