Leaders from corporate South Africa and the global social impact sector have pledged to pool resources to find solutions to the country’s high youth unemployment.
The stakeholders gathered for a high-level engagement in Sandton to explore how corporate volunteering can be transformed from ad hoc, once-off initiatives, into a coordinated, strategic driver to address youth unemployment.
Currently, about 5.7 million young South Africans are sitting at home without a job and are inactive in the economy – a situation experts describe as a recipe for disaster. Big business is now calling for aligned, business-led solutions.
