Xi’s Taiwan remarks dismissed as ‘standard rhetoric’ after Trump meeting

Former foreign minister Alexander Downer contradicts claims Chinese President Xi Jinping issued fresh threats to US President Donald Trump during a bilateral meeting.

“It was pretty much standard rhetoric from China on Taiwan,” Mr Downer told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“I don’t see anything special about that.”
