‘Will you apologise?’ Israeli ambassador pressed on Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom’s death

Israel’s ambassador to Australia, Hillel Newman, has been asked about the investigation into Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom’s death.

Frankcom and six other aid workers were killed by an Israeli strike on a World Central Kitchen aid convoy in Gaza in April 2024.

Appearing at the National Press Club in Canberra on Tuesday, Newman was asked if Israel would release audio from the drone strike that killed Frankcom.

He said there may be intelligence reasons why it hasn’t been shared, but that he would follow up.

Meanwhile, Frankcom’s brother is demanding accountability from Israel on the eve of the second anniversary of her death.

“Two years on, we are still waiting for accountability and justice to be served for her and for her fellow team members,” Mal Frankcom said on Tuesday.
