Ukraine has warned for weeks that Russia could once again use Belarusian territory to threaten the country from the north — reviving grim memories from the start of the war, when Russian troops crossed the border from Belarus in their push toward Kyiv. We spoke to Pavel Slunkin, a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations and former political analyst at Belarus’s Foreign Ministry, about the visit of exiled opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to Ukraine — and about Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent appeal to the Belarusian people on X.
