Strait of Hormuz | Iran, Oman agree on way to manage shipping

Iran and Oman have agreed to the technical mechanisms for managing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz while political approval of the arrangement is still pending.

Tehran earlier announced it had reached a preliminary agreement with Oman on new commercial shipping routes through the Strait, indicating that the two countries had settled the technical details and were now preparing a joint statement.

Iranian officials say the understanding would establish new inbound and outbound shipping lanes aimed at allowing commercial traffic to move safely through the strategic waterway.
