Russian drone strikes hit Romanian apartment block and Turkish ship | Ukraine Brief

A Turkish-owned cargo vessel was struck by a Russian drone while sailing in the Black Sea between Odesa and Turkey. The attack set fire to the ship and injured two crew members. The Ukrainian Navy then arrived at the scene, taking the injured to medical facilities.

Since Thursday, Russian attacks against Ukraine have claimed the lives of at least two people and injured some three dozen more. Amid Russia’s drone attacks against Ukraine, one Russian drone entered Romanian airspace on Friday and crashed into an apartment building in Galați, roughly 15 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Polish leaders have sharply criticized President Zelenskyy after he signed a decree on Tuesday, which named an elite special forces unit after the “Heroes of the UPA,” the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which was responsible for the genocide of some 100,000 Poles during World War II.

To discuss these issues, Ukraine Brief host Ashim Kumar is joined by Tetiana Shevchuk, Head of International Relations at the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Action Center.
