R179 million approved for Spaza Shop Support Fund
Good progress is being made in the distribution of funds from the 500-million-rand Spaza Shop Support Fund, but not enough South African-owned spaza shop owners are taking advantage of it.
This is according to statements made by the Department of Small Business Development.
The Fund is a joint initiative between the Small Business Development Department and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
More South African spaza shop owners are being urged to get their businesses formally registered with their municipalities in order to qualify for funding to boost their businesses not just financially, but with operational know-how that will help entrench efficiencies in their enterprises.
