A deputy in Pinellas County, Florida, handled his first alligator call “like a pro,” wrangling a small but highly active gator hanging out on a residential property on July 8.
Bodycam footage released by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office shows the deputy capturing the hissing reptile with a little assistance from a member of the public, who opens a door of the deputy’s patrol vehicle for him as he holds the animal in both hands.
The sheriff’s office described the episode as a “Florida deputy rite of passage.
“With a leash, tape, patience, and some helpful citizens, he got the gator to safer waters,” the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
