Opening Strait of Hormuz Could Bring Back US-Iran talks: Qatar

Qatar said on Tuesday (August 18) that an agreement involving Oman and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz “would make it much easier” to resume talks between the United States and Iran.

Speaking to journalists in Doha, Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari also said that Iran and Qatar were in direct contact on the matter of Iranian pilots.

He added that an Iranian request for ICRC involvement on the issue was a “media ploy” and that an invitation for an Iranian delegation to visit remained open, but Doha had received no response.
