NSFAS board resignations trigger governance concerns
South Africa’s student funding system is facing renewed uncertainty, after Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela accepted a wave of resignations from the board of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). The departures, including acting chairperson Dr Mugwena Maluleke, have raised serious concerns about whether the board can still function lawfully, amid ongoing allegations of governance failures and instability within the institution.
