A Victory Day parade was held at Moscow’s Red Square on May 9, 2026 to mark 81 years since the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II. For the first time in 19 years, no tanks, missiles or other military equipment were on display. The Russian Defence Ministry said the equipment was not on show because of a risk of “Ukrainian terrorist activity”. US President Donald Trump announced a three-day ceasefire ahead of the Victory Day parade.
