New Details in 1997 Human Remains Case Revealed

Prosecutors have revealed a possible motive in the nearly 30-year-old killing of Tanya Jackson, a woman once believed to be a victim of the Gilgo Beach serial killer.

Jackson, a 26-year-old Gulf War veteran formerly known as ‘Peaches,’ was found dismembered in Hempstead Lake State Park in 1997. Her identity remained a mystery for decades until genetic testing identified her in 2023.

Now, Nassau prosecutors allege that Andrew Dykes, a former Tennessee state trooper who had an affair with Jackson while they were in the Army, killed her because she tried to break up his marriage.

Court documents reveal testimony that Jackson confronted Dykes’ wife and moved to New York with their young daughter to be closer to him.

Dykes, 67, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. His attorneys are seeking to have the case dismissed.
