Mother Fit for Trial in Wrong-Way Crash That Killed 9-Year-Old Son
A Centerport mother accused of causing a wrong-way crash that killed her 9-year-old son has been found competent to stand trial.
Kerri Bedrick, 34, was previously deemed unfit to stand trial and placed under the care of the New York State Office of Mental Health.
Prosecutors allege she was impaired by drugs when she drove the wrong way on the Southern State Parkway in August 2024, causing a crash that killed her son, Eli.
Her attorney plans to have her mental state at the time of the crash evaluated as the criminal case moves forward.
Bedrick has pleaded not guilty.
