Lindsay Clancy case: Massachusetts mom charged with killing her 3 young children
The trial for the Massachusetts mom accused of killing her three young children began on Monday.
35-year-old Lindsay Clancy is charged with three counts of murder and strangulation in connection with the deaths of her children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan. She’s accused of purposely sending her husband out for errands, timing how long it would take and then allegedly killing her three kids before attempting suicide.
Her lawyers – and her husband – say she was not responsible for her actions, citing postpartum psychosis.
LiveNOW’s Mike Pache discussed the case with criminal defense attorney Nicole DeBorde.
MORE INFORMATION:
Lindsay and her husband have maintained that the doctors who treated her misdiagnosed and overmedicated her, causing her to hallucinate voices telling her to kill her kids. The allegations are central to lawsuits claiming that medical professionals failed to diagnose her escalating postpartum psychosis before the deadly tragedy.
“Lindsay Clancy did everything a mother in her situation could do,” the lawsuit says, alleging she sought treatment, went to emergency rooms, contacted crisis services, admitted herself to hospitals and repeatedly reported her worsening symptoms.
