Lawyers placed at W Cape police stations
Efforts to strengthen the criminal justice system have been given a boost with the launch of the Lawyers in Police Stations Project in Mitchells Plain on the Cape Flats.
The initiative is a collaboration between the Western Cape government, SAPS and the Geneva-based Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime.
It will see full-time legal practitioners stationed within a police station to offer a legal resource to both police and the community.
