Thai police have revealed the cause of death for a teenager allegedly killed at the hands of an Australian man who dumped her naked body in a suitcase.
Simon Peter Carman faces a potential death penalty over the alleged murder of 17-year-old Thanchanok Donhomla, known as “Cake”, near Pattaya Beach on June 25.
Her body was found two days after she was last seen on CCTV meeting with Mr Carman at the Jomtien Condominium apartment blocks, with the Australian later allegedly seen wheeling a suitcase through the lobby.
Authorities have now released the results of an autopsy in an interview with the ABC as police prepare to hand over all of the evidence to prosecutors.
Colonel Anek Srathongyoo from Pattaya City Police told the broadcaster said the autopsy found “that Cake had a brain injury and she suffocated. She had no other injuries”.
“We also collected Simon (Carman’s) DNA and matched it to DNA found on Cake’s body.”
Colonel Anek said officers had compiled “100 per cent of the evidence” in the case and expected a court to “consider imposing a sentence quickly”.
