Iran Reigns Supreme, U.S. Navy Nowhere To Be Seen? At Least 12 Ships Bombed in Hormuz | WATCH
Two more oil tankers have exploded in the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran’s IRGC Navy saying both vessels struck naval mines after entering “unauthorised routes.” Tehran says commercial vessels must follow corridors it has approved through the strategic waterway. The incidents come as Iran explicitly links restrictions in Hormuz to its negotiations with Washington. Security chief Mohsen Rezaei says Tehran is waiting for America’s “final response” and could begin implementing an agreed maritime corridor through shared Iranian-Omani waters if Washington responds. But Rezaei says a complete reopening of Hormuz will not happen until the United States meets Iran’s seven conditions, including the release of frozen funds and other demands. Tehran’s position therefore ties diplomacy directly to the movement of global energy traffic: an interim corridor could emerge, but full access remains conditional on a wider US-Iran agreement.
