Iran and US exchange fire in Strait of Hormuz
Iranian officials say they’ve exchanged fire with “the enemy units” operating in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s state broadcaster said Iranian missiles were fired following an attack by the US military on an Iranian oil tanker.
According to a social media post by US Central Command (CENTCOM) on X, US forces ‘intercepted unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with self-defence strikes as US Navy destroyers transited the Strait’.
CENTCOM stated that no US assets were struck in the incident.
