Dr Anthony Fauci referred to the DOJ after being found in contempt of Congress

Dr Anthony Fauci – who headed America’s COVID response – has been referred to the Department of Justice.

It’s after a Senate committee voted to hold the former top infectious disease ‌official in contempt of Congress.

This comes after Dr Fauci had refused to answer questions during a hearing on the COVID-19 pandemic last week – instead using his Fifth Amendment right to not incriminate himself.

Dr Fauci’s lawyers have hit back at the Senate committee’s vote, saying: “Today’s resolution is a continuation of Senator Paul’s personal vendetta against Dr Fauci, who spent 50 years in public health and has saved countless lives.

“It is shameful and wrong that Senator Paul is abusing his power by trying to weaponise the Justice Department against an honourable public servant.”
