Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) questioned Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano during a Thursday hearing over his office’s handling of criminal illegal immigrants. Gill asked whether policies considering the impact of deportation on families influenced the suspended 90-day sentence given to Ander Cortez-Mendez, an illegal immigrant convicted in 2024 in a minor sex abuse case.
