Cry of the Excluded Marches for Jobs, Basic Income and Lower Fuel Costs
Members belonging to the Cry of the Excluded which consists of various trade unions, NGO’s and community based social movements have gathered at the Hanover Square in the Cape Town CBD ahead of a protest march to parliament. They are calling on Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana who is expected to deliver a Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement today to consider the plight of the poor.
They demand that more people should be employed in the public sector to fast track service delivery and create more jobs. They also want an introduction of a Universal Basic Income Grant and reduction of fuel levies among others.
