Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir are reportedly at odds over a proposed military action that defence officials fear could quickly trigger renewed confrontation with Iran just days before Israel’s election.
Channel 12 reported that Zamir sought further discussions and formal authorization before carrying out the move, while opposition leaders accused Netanyahu of risking escalation for political purposes. Netanyahu denied there was any confrontation with the army chief and insisted Israel remained prepared for threats from Iran.
