Footage purportedly showing China’s DF-26B ballistic missile destroying a US aircraft carrier mock-up has drawn widespread attention online. The CCTV-branded clip depicts a missile launch and a massive explosion at a desert testing facility. China’s DF-26 is a road-mobile intermediate-range ballistic missile capable of carrying conventional or nuclear warheads. Satellite imagery has previously revealed realistic US warship mock-ups in the Taklamakan Desert. However, the circulating footage appears to match material reported in December 2024.
