Big Houthi Hit? Saudi Confirms Entire Military Crew Wiped Out In Aircraft Crash Amid Yemen War
A Saudi military helicopter has crashed in the Najran region, killing two crew members, amid escalating clashes between the Saudi-led coalition and Iran-aligned Houthi militants. While coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki attributed the crash to a technical malfunction, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed the rebels had shot down the reconnaissance AH-6i helicopter while it was operating near Houthi positions along the border. The conflicting accounts come amid a rise in Houthi attacks on Saudi territory and growing questions over the safety of Saudi military aircraft. The incident also follows a Houthi claim that a Saudi Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon was hit by a missile on October 15, although the extent of the reported damage remains unclear. Earlier, the Houthis also claimed responsibility for shooting down a Saudi F-15SA fighter jet in September.
