Battle for VhaVenda throne has been raging since 2012

Mopai was testifying during the ongoing Vhavenda kingship battle between Prince Toni Mphephu Ramabulana and Princess Masindi Mphephu at the High Court in Polokwane, Limpopo. Toni Mphephu Ramabulana stepped down in 2019 after the decision by former President Jacob Zuma to declare him Vhavenda king was reversed by the Supreme Court of Appeal. The battle for the Vhavenda throne has been raging since 2012. Princess Masindi Mphephu believes the Mphephu Ramabulana Royal family has overlooked her due to her gender. She believes she should have been identified as an heir to the throne after her father, King Dimbanyikaa Mphephu, died in a car crash in 1998. Our reporter Lutendo Bobodi is keeping a close eye on the story and he now joins us on the line.
