Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomes Putin to Beijing a Week After Trump talks
Chinese President Xi Jinping gave a grand welcome to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Beijing on Wednesday, May 20, just a week after hosting US President Donald Trump.
Footage released by the Kremlin showed Putin and Xi exchanging a handshake outside the Great Hall of the People.
The two leaders went on to engage in talks, and afterwards signed a “Joint Statement on Further Strengthening Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation and Deepening Relations of Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation,” the Kremlin said.
The meeting came a week after US President Donald Trump travelled to China for a two-day summit.
