‘You’re allowed to change your mind’: Bill Shorten defends Labor’s CGT and negative gearing changes

Former opposition leader Bill Shorten defends Labor’s decision to make reforms to the capital gains tax discount and negative gearing.

“An election is what happens one day every three years, I think the housing crisis doesn’t wait,” Mr Shorten told Sky News Australia.

“Do you know nearly 40 per cent of people in Melbourne rent? 40 per cent of people in Sydney rent. Housing prices in Brisbane and Perth are just going up and up.

“I think the population is changing, and as the facts change, you’re allowed to change your mind.”
