UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock highlighted India’s critical role across the United Nations’ 80-year history and its contributions across all three pillars of the UN Charter. She noted the sacrifice of over 184 Indian peacekeepers in service of global peace and India’s leadership in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through South-South cooperation. She also paid tribute to Dr Hansa Mehta for helping shape the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ensuring it reads “all human beings are born free and equal.”
