Indonesian authorities have ended a nearly 12-hour rescue effort near Bekasi Timur station, east of the capital Jakarta, after a train collision killed 15 people and injured more than 76. Rescue crews were forced to pry open mangled carriages following the crash, which took place on the night of April 27, 2026. Indonesia’s president has ordered an investigation into what caused the long-distance train to collide with a stationary commuter train.
