Every day, thousands of tonnes of cargo pass through the Port of Durban, keeping South Africa’s economy in motion. Behind the massive cranes and complex machinery, women are increasingly taking on the technical roles once dominated by men. At Transnet Port Terminals’ Pier One, two women from rural KwaZulu-Natal are helping keep port operations running, while challenging long-held stereotypes in the engineering and heavy machinery sector.
