Witness D’s alleged killer to apply for bail

Matipandile Sotheni, the man accused of murdering Marius van der Merwe, also known as Witness D at the Madlanga Commission, is expected to appear before the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court for a bail application. Sotheni, who has denied all charges against him, was arrested after van der Merwe was shot and killed outside his Brakpan house weeks after exposing corrupt activities within the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department.
