#Witkoff #destroys the credibility of Trump’s #administration
Political theater, strategy, or desperate moves ahead of the U.S. midterm elections? Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump’s envoy, spent three hours in talks with Vladimir Putin. In News in Depth, Adam Jasser, News Director at TVP World, argued that Trump is in urgent need of a political win before the elections. According to Jasser, however, the U.S. president is merely giving Putin more cards to play while getting little in return.
Witkoff’s remarks describing Putin as a “humanitarian” have shocked many observers. Yet, in Jasser’s view, Witkoff is not acting irrationally. Rather, “this is all for show.”
Why is the Trump administration’s strategy failing? Do Americans understand the political calculations behind Trump’s growing pressure on Ukraine? And what does Washington actually hope to gain from its current approach toward Moscow?
Join Marie Kato and her guest, Adam Jasser, as they discuss Trump’s pre-midterm calculations, Witkoff’s diplomacy, Putin’s leverage, and the future of U.S. policy toward Ukraine and Russia.
