Who is really winning the drug war in South Africa? The answer will shock you
R200 million here. R1 billion there. Another R600 million over there.
The seizure numbers are enough to make your head spin. Cocaine arriving from across the ocean. Lab equipment that could produce tonnes upon tonnes of product every single month. Precursor chemicals worth close to R1 billion stopped at our borders.
But here is what keeps us up at night. For all these massive busts, where is the money trail? Somebody is bankrolling these operations. Somebody is receiving the product after it passes through our airports and borders. Somebody is sitting somewhere counting notes while communities crumble.
We keep hearing about couriers being arrested. Drug mules caught at airports. But the organisers? The people who actually own these networks? The trail seems to go cold every single time it gets close to someone who matters. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
We decided to follow the money and ask who is really being protected in this so-called drug war. The answers, or rather the lack of them, are telling.
The full investigation is live on YouTube now. Go and watch it. Share it. Your community needs to see this.
