China’s foreign ministry confirmed on May 11, 2026, that US President Donald Trump will embark on a state visit to Beijing. The May 13-15 trip will be the first by a US leader since 2017 and comes amid US-China tensions over trade curbs, the fragile US-Iran ceasefire and a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
