Water Protests | IPID to probe police brutality claims in Westbury
The police in Gauteng say they will investigate all allegations of brutality in Westbury, where residents are protesting for a second day over prolonged water cuts.
Provincial police spokesperson Mavela Masondo has urged those who feel they were mistreated to open cases, saying the Independent Police Investigative Directorate will handle them.
This follows reports that at least five people were injured yesterday when officers fired rubber bullets at protesters.
