Voters in Pennsylvanian farming communities grapple with economic challenges

The north-eastern US state of Pennsylvania is sometimes called the ‘swingiest swing state’. As Democrats hope to make gains in the upcoming midterm elections, the state’s voters could play an increasingly important role.

In the south-east of the state, farming communities, who traditionally vote Republican, are now grappling with soaring costs and labour shortages which some blame on President Donald Trump’s policies.
