Uttarakhand innovator develops electric flying car after 13 years, despite no engineering degree

Meet Ravi Tamta, an innovator from Kaflikhan village near Jageswar Dham in Almora, Uttarakhand, who spent 13 years developing an electric flying car without an engineering degree or access to an advanced laboratory.

His invention, HAPIDA SKYNeX, is designed to make travel easier across mountainous terrain, particularly during medical emergencies when reaching a hospital can take hours. The vehicle can take off and land vertically, eliminating the need for an airport or runway.

After years of learning, experimentation and perseverance, Tamta’s prototype completed its first test flight in August from an army helipad in Almora, remaining airborne for nearly a minute.

His journey is an inspiring example of how determination, curiosity and innovation can turn an idea into reality.
