United States will now “run” Venezuela, says Trump
US President Donald Trump has told a press conference the United States will now “run” Venezuela after capturing Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro during a bombing raid on the capital Caracas.
Trump’s announcement came hours after a rapid attack in which special forces grabbed Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, while airstrikes pounded multiple sites across the city.
Trump posted a picture of Maduro in custody on a US naval ship wearing a blindfold, handcuffs and what appeared to be noise-cancelling ear muffs.
Trump also shared that Maduro and Flores were being taken to New York to face narcotics and terrorism charges, saying they will face “the full might of American justice”.
