United States holds its midterm elections
Voters across the United States will today cast their votes in the 2026 midterm elections.
All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate are on the ballot.
The midterm elections will determine who controls Congress for the final two years of US President Donald’s term.
All House of Representative seats and nearly a third of the Senate are being contested in a vote widely seen as a referendum on US President Donald Trump.
To discuss the US Midterm elections, what they could mean for South African and their implications, we are joined by an Emeritus Professor of International Relations at Wits, Professor Gilbert Khadiagala.
