‘Unacceptable and stupid’: Macron blasts foreign leaders over comments on France riots
French President Emmanuel Macron has criticised foreign leaders for comments about the recent protests in the country marred by violence.
He referenced comments made by US President Donald Trump on the midterm campaign trail saying voting for the Democrats would lead to violence similar to that seen in France.
France’s leader says many of President Trump’s claims are false.
“There was foreign manipulation of information afterwards, yes, and that gave rise to unacceptable and stupid comments from many people, including foreign leaders,” Mr Macron said.
