U.K. moves to ban smoking for people born after 2008

A new law could change a generation’s future.

U.K. politicians have backed a draft bill that would ban the sale of tobacco and nicotine products to people born on or after January 1, 2009.

The plan aims to reduce smoking-related deaths and expand vape restrictions in public spaces, especially around children and in hospitals.

The bill will forbid stores from selling tobacco products to anyone under 17 years of age to create a “smoke-free generation.”

The proposal still needs parliamentary approval before it becomes law.
