Two #helicopters collide during landing near #Everest, one tourist killed
One person was killed and another injured when two helicopters collided while landing near Mount Everest in Nepal, according to local authorities.
The accident happened on Tuesday at a landing site in Pheriche, in the Solukhumbu region.
The helicopters belonged to two private operators, Fishtail Air and Dynasty Air.
Footage from the scene appears to show one helicopter approaching another as it landed, causing their rotor blades to collide.
The person killed was an Indian national, while a New Zealand citizen was injured. Fishtail Air said both were tourists being transported from Everest. Dynasty Air, however, said its helicopter was carrying cargo only.
Local authorities said the injured New Zealander was evacuated to hospital.
No further details about the person’s condition have been released.
