Tukaram Mundhe: When It Comes to Food, Reputation Offers No Protection #hygiene | I Witness

Maharashtra FDA Chief Tukaram Mundhe has intensified statewide food safety enforcement after surprise inspections at several prominent Mumbai eateries revealed serious hygiene violations, including mould contamination, expired stock, and pest infestations.

Following these inspections, several well-known establishments, including K Rustom, Noor Mohamadi, Purnima, and Parsi Dairy Farm, had their licenses suspended, sending a strong signal that brand reputation will not shield non-compliance.

Mundhe said the FDA’s action applies uniformly across all categories of food businesses, from street vendors to high-end restaurants, and dismisses allegations that establishments didn’t have enough time to comply with the guidelines and directives.
